Why do I need an ultrasound?
Especially if considering abortion, an ultrasound* will provide you with important information about your pregnancy and options, which includes:
Confirming the pregnancy is intra-uterine
The pregnancy is developing in the uterus. If not, it is an ectopic pregnancy, which is a medical emergency.
Confirming viablITY
A viable pregnancy is determined by seeing the heartbeat. If there is no heartbeat, the pregnancy could be ending in natural miscarriage.
Determining gestational age
During your ultrasound, our nurses will take measurements to determine the age of the pregnancy.
